- April 2010 Prof. Nishihara attended IEEE EDUCON 2010 and presented a paper. Manuel Castro was a General Chair of this conference. Charo san was helping the conference. He was supposed to go back to Japan after 3 nights, but the flights were cancelled due to the volcano ash, and he was looking for information. Since he was trapped in Madrid, he enjoyed rich culture there. Dali is one of his favorites.
- March 2010 Prof. Nishihara received a Best Teacher Award.
- March 2010 Prof. Nishihara attended IEEE ICASSP 2010 in Dallas, and this cross on the road shows the JFK assassination point.
- February 2010 Prof. Nishihara attended IEEE Region 10 Meeting in Cebu as R10 Strategic Planning Coordinator. In front of the stature of King Lapu Lapu, after the meeting.
- February 2010 Prof. Nishihara had a talk in IEEE Seminar, together with distinguished speakers at De La Salle University. It was my birthday and they celebrated me.
- January 2010 Prof. Nishihara attended IEEE Region 10 ExCom Meeting in Brunei. The site was Empire Hotel. They say it is a 7-star hotel.
- December 2009 Prof. Nishihara had a nice reuion in Bangkok with Mr. Kushiyama, a high-school class mate, who is now teaching at Khon Kaeng University and Suranaree University of Technology.
- February 2009 Prof. Nishihara attended IEEE Region 10 Meeting in Hanoi, as Strategic Planning Coordinator, and had a nice discussion. Together with Dr. Minami, my class mate, during the meeting, and at the dinner.
- January 2009 Prof. Nishihara attended IEEE Region 10 ExCom Meeting in Macau as Strategic Planning Coordinator, and discussed on issued in our Region. We had a nice dinner in the evening.
- November 2008 There was the first Thailand-Japan International Academic Conference at Tokyo Tech, and VIPs got together. Prof. Nishihara gave an invited talk.
- March 2008: Prof.
Saito, Vice President of Tokyo Tech, Prof. Niiyama, Director of the
Phillipine Office, and Prof. Nishihara visited the University of the
Philippines and met with Dr. Sergio S. Cao, Chancellor, and Dr. Rowena
Guevara, Dean of Engineering.
- March 2008: Prof. Saito, Prof. Niiyama, and Prof. Nishihara visited the IT Training Center, University of the Philippines, where Prof. Nishihara is serving as Chair of the Domestic Supporting Committee.
- March 2008: Prof. Nishihara had a visit to Tokyo Tech Office
(Philippines) together with Prof. Akio Saito, Vice President of Tokyo
Tech. Prof.
Saito, VP Tokyo Tech, and Dr. Julius B. Maridable, Vice Chancellor for
Academics, De La Salle University, signed the agreement to extend the
existing MOU. Dr. Ronaldo Gallardo, Director of our Office, and Dr.
Peg-asa Gspillo, Dean of Engineering congratulate the signing.
Prof. Saito, Prof. Nishihara, and AUN/SEED-Net students enjoy talking with Tokyo Tech staff at Ookayama using video conference.
They enjoy marketing seafood for their dinner with Tokyo Tech alumni.
- March 2008: Karn Patanukhom (D2 student) won the First Place in 2007 Student Paper Contest held by IEEE Tokyo Tech Student Branch.
- February 2008 Prof. Nishihara joined the IEEE Region 10 Meeting in Gandhinagar, India. Lunch in the yard is also important time for discussion.
- August 2007: Our
group (Munehiro Tokikura, Taro Asano, and Akinori Nishihara) won the
"2007 DSPS Educators Conference Texas Instruments Japan Best
Demonstration Award"
- March 2007: Prof. Nishihara did an experiment of High-Definition live lecture
transmission over IP between Chulalongkorn University and Tokyo
Tech on 7 March 2007 with the help of Mr. Shunsuke Shinomiya, NOC,
Tokyo Tech, and Bunka Koubou Inc.
Equipment were brought from Tokyo, and a professional camera man from Bunka
Koubou shooted us. The scene was
transmitted to Tokyo Tech through JGN2 (Japan Gigabit Network 2)
and shown by three different ways; the big screen in the center
shows down-converted SD picture, while left screen is a projection
of full HD quality. A small right display is a 45-inch full HD LCD
TV. This experiment was supported by
Prof. Prasit Prapinmongkolkarn, National Telecommunication
Commissioner, and many Faculty members of Chulalongkorn University.
Chula people also enjoyed
high quality scene transmitted from Tokyo Tech.
He brought back an interesting souvenir,
as he regarded it as made in Thailand. The name of this seems to
be "sour plum", but its Japanese is funny and meaningless.
Actually it was made in China. Plums do not grow in Thailand.
- January 2007: Prof. Nishihara started working for IEEE Region 10
Executive Committee. He
enjoyed a meeting with other ExCom members, especially beautiful ladies and
old friends.

IEEE Region 10 Student Congress (in Hong Kong) as a guest
speeker. He enjoyed lunch with
students from all over Asia and Pacific. He was with two studnets from Tokyo
Tech; Miku and Sorwar.

- Apr. 2004: IEEE
Region 10 Meeting in Adelaide. We had a small trip to Wild
Life Park, where there is also a mild life.

- Sept. 2003: 5th DSPS Educators Conference was held at our campus, and we invited Prof. Alfred Fettweis for his valuable lectures.
- May 2003: IEEE Fellow was recognized at the Banquet of ISCAS2003.
- March 2003: Prof. Rainer Leupers opened a new site for address code optimization in which some of our work are cited.
- Nov. 2002: Prof. Nishihara was elected an IEEE Fellow.
- July 2002: General Co-Chair at ITC-CSCC (This photo was taken by Prof. K. Sekine)
- Apr. 2002: Our MaxFlat JAVA applet won the IP Award.
- Jan. 2002: The World of Flatness
has been updated. Now you can see the magnitude, phase and delay
responses of the digital filters you get from this applet. You can
design linear/nonlinear phase filters, generalized half-band filters,
and fractional delay systems having maximally flat response.
- Dec. 2001 IEEE Region 10 ExCom meeting was held in Cairns. We had a hard discussion, with a short break.
- Dec. 2001: We took part in 16th DSP Symposium in Ishigaki Island, and enjoyed a nice dinner.
- Nov. 2001: ``Multirate Systems and Filter Banks'' by P.P.Vaidyanathan was translated into Japanese.
