The Association for Application Experiments of WINDS, where Prof. Nishihara serves as Chair, received MIC (Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications) Minister's Award for producing many technological achievements to utilize gigabit range broadband satellite communication such as bridging digital divide and ensuring communication at the time of disaster, by conducting application experiments of Wideband Internetworking Engineering Test and Demonstration Satellite “KIZUNA”(WINDS), and made a great contribution to developing satellite communication.
